Goodbye, Dewey!

After ten years and countless hours of labor by the Access and Technical Services departments, the library bid goodbye to the last of our books classified in the Dewey Decimal system. The entire book collection is now classified in the Library of Congress system--that's the one with call numbers that start with letters. We celebrated with a cake and commemorative t-shirts in August, and we think you'll celebrate next time you're looking for a book. You can find all the books on a topic in one place on the shelves!

If you need help reading Library of Congress call numbers, or you can't find a book you need on the shelves, be sure to ask the Reference staff for help. Email us at reference@slc.edu, call us at x2225, or just stop by our office on the main floor of the library.
